American Behavioral provides both Employee Assistance Program (“EAP”) services and behavioral health care services through client corporations and other health plans. The EAP offers assistance with a variety of work/life issues including family and marital, mental health and substance abuse assessment and referral, as well as legal, financial, child care and elder care referral services. The behavioral health care services are for clinical conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, and substance abuse treatment.

To provide the best possible level of care for members, American Behavioral has a large network of credentialed providers including psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, licensed counselors and social workers. We are able to offer care at the inpatient, outpatient, and various alternative levels of care based on the diagnosis and medical necessity guidelines. Our Clinical Services Department employs experienced care managers who are available to assist you in finding the most appropriate provider for your area of concern, helping you through the process of obtaining care and ensuring that your treatment meets medical necessity criteria.
